My Community and I against COVID 19 - Wisdom Vinjeru Mwase, Nkhata Bay

I am Wisdom Vinjeru Mwase a U-Reporter from Nkhatabay currently working as a Safety, Health and Environment Officer for a construction company on a road project in Mzimba.

As a Health officer, I have initiated a number of containment measures in my workplace related to COVID-19. I have been promoting all the preventive measures as recommended by the Ministry of Health in the fight against Covid-19 to ensure that all members of staff and the community surrounding our project are  safe and protected from the pandemic.

These measures include: placing of hand washing facilities such as buckets, hand sanitizer and soap around the working site and all entry points. I have also been making sure that masks are provided on a weekly basis, temperatures are checked every morning and physical distances are maintained at all times. I have also taken the initiative to provide health education to equip all workers with knowledge and awareness on COVID-19.

This has brought a positive impact on the community as most of our workers are local people who have adopted these measures and applied them in their homes to save their families and their communities.

In our professions we can help in the fight against COVID-19. What are you doing?

Let's join hands to defeat COVID-19.
