My name is Mercy Mlongola. I am a
U-Reporter based in Lilongwe. To stop the spread of COVID-19, my community and
I have been practising preventive measures as provided by the Ministry of
Health such as washing hands frequently with soap, social distancing, no hand
shaking and covering of the mouth with the back of our elbows when coughing.
During this time, it is important to differentiate facts from myths. Credible information on COVID-19 is available in my community through radio, television, and health workers. As a U-Reporter, I have also been asking my community to access reliable information from the U-Report chatbot. Simply text the word CORONAVIRUS to 1177 and you will get free information on protecting yourself and your families.
Each and every one of us in the community should continue following the precautionary measures that have been provided by the Ministry of Health. A message to my fellow youth is that let’s actively play a role in fighting this virus by educating and bringing awareness to community members that COVID-19 is real and it is here.
